A dormouse appears against a rich pattern of flowers, based on the mille-fleurs tapestries. They live in deciduous woodland and hedgerows and during most of spring and summer they spend much of their time in the branches feeding on buds, hazelnuts, berries and insects. They are mainly nocturnal, so seldom seen. During winter they hibernate under logs and leaves or underground. Their habitat is under threat but the dormouse is not yet considered to be endangered.
