New design launched late October 2020
This animated, friendly looking green man is found in the 13th century chapter house at York Minster, which is one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in northern Europe. The chapter house has some of the finest sculpture including human heads, angels, animals and grotesques. These carved heads sprouting foliage are found in many Christian churches and cathedrals from the medieval period and are often interpreted as a symbol of rebirth or growth each spring.
