This hunting dog with the characteristics of a greyhound is woven into the tapestry known as The Lady and the Unicorn (in the Cluny Museum.) The background of late 15th and early 16th century French & Flemish tapestries such as this were often filled with many hundreds of tiny flowers. This came to be known as mille-fleurs or thousand flowers. Dogs are loyal and often referred to as man's best friend so we have included the inscription 'Faithful Friend'.
