New design launched late October 2020
The Wren is one of the UK’s most abundant breeding birds. Despite its tiny size (6-10 cm in length) it has a very loud call that will alert you to one nearby. Although brown in colour, they are distinguished by a short tail that is cocked sharply upwards. Their habitat is spread over gardens, woodland, moors and farmland where there is an abundance of insects and spiders. Breeding takes place in early spring with males establishing territories by building a selection of domed nests for females to consider. Up to seven eggs are laid which will hatch and fledge about a month later.
