Cave Canem is translated as Beware of the Dog. This energetic and friendly dog is based on a Roman mosaic found in Vienne, France. It is on display in St. Peter's Archaeological Museum (Musee Lapidaire Saint-Pierre) in Vienne. Dog mosaics would often be found on the floor of an entrance hall of wealthier Roman homes as a warning sign to visitors. The tile can be fixed to an outdoor wall or gate-post.
Fixing Points: are the holes in the corners of the tile
